Storm Mountain Community Meeting Notice: Lake Management

Dear Storm Mountain Community Members,

A meeting open to all Storm Mountain residents is scheduled for Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at 6:00 PM to discuss the lake for fire use. This is being hosted by the HOA Board (the lake is currently owned by the HOA). Any efforts related to the lake that are currently or have been discussed with the HOA should be routed through this meeting/effort.

Purpose of the Meeting:

  • Establish a Committee: There is significant interest in forming a committee to oversee the lake, which would be open to all Storm Mountain residents, not limited to just HOA members. The lake's use for fires and recreation would be discussed as part of this process.

  • Lake Options: Two of the primary options to be discussed during this meeting are:

    1. Community Organization: Consider the formation of a community-led non-profit organization specifically created to manage and maintain the lake. This would involve the community as a whole, not just HOA members, allowing for broader participation and tailored management approaches.

    2. Government or Non-Profit Organization: Explore the possibility of transferring the lake's management to an established government agency or a non-profit organization. This option would include discussions regarding the lake’s maintenance and availability for fire use and recreational activities.

  • Develop Feasible Solutions: The goal of the meeting is to create a collaborative committee that will work to develop and evaluate practical and well-prepared options for the lake. Any proposed paths forward will be subject to a vote by HOA members.

We encourage all members of the Storm Mountain community to attend and participate in this crucial discussion. Your input is valuable as we strive to ensure the best possible future for our lake.

Meeting Details:

  • Date: Wednesday, August 16, 2024
